Crate training is generally considered one of the fastest, and best, ways you can train your puppy to teach them not to go to the bathroom in the house. Crate training takes advantage of one of the strong instincts of your affenpinscher: that they will not go to the bathroom in their own personal space if it can be avoided. Having a crate for your puppy will then mean that it will hold when it wants to go to the bathroom. Pay attention to your puppy's behavior and when they get finicky, you can put your puppy on a leash and take it outside.
People are always taking their Yorkshire terriers to the groomer. Why? Well, Yorkshire terriers can grow hair up to 2 feet in length! Considering that they are nowhere near two feet tall, this makes regular grooming a must!
This is a good time to use positive reinforcement so your affenpinscher will learn that this is a good action.
Every time you take your puppy out to go to the bathroom, give a treat and praise every time your puppy does so. This will help reinforce that outside is the place to go to the bathroom. After that the affenpinscher can run freely in the house until it needs to go again, which for some really young puppies can be as often as every hour, but later as they age. Keep a close eye on your pet to let them out when they really need to go.
Chow Chows have very unusual mouths. When they are born they look normal enough. However, by the age of about 8 weeks, their gums and tongues go from pink to an odd shade of bluish-black.
There are several factors you need to keep in mind while crate training your affenpinscher:
Only use the crate when you are going to be home for the entire time of confinement. Affenpinschers are social creatures, and you should never have them in a closed crate more than two hours, or while you're away from home--even if it's only for a short time.
Don't put the crate away from everyone. Affenpinschers want to be part of the family, so even in a crate they will be much happier in a room full of people than off to the side when they can't see anyone.
After your affenpinscher is successfully housebroken, remove the door from the crate. Now your affenpinscher has its own private space and can come and go in the house as it pleases.
The basenji could really be considered more like a cat than a dog. Not only is it the only breed of dog that does not bark, but is also a meticulous cleaner. Unlike other dogs, the basenji actually licks itself clean, just like a cat!
If you keep these tips in mind and put in the due diligence the first couple months to get your affenpinscher on the right track, you will not only have a well trained house pet, but will save yourself more time in training and re-training.
Done effectively, crate training is the perfect way to train your pet to be a part of the family.
Rhodesian ridgebacks have an actual ridge along the top of their backs. The ridge is made up of forward-growing hairs. This ridge gives the rhodesian ridgeback a unique and easily recognizable look.
Pharaoh Hounds have an unusual feature. They are the only breed of dogs that "blushes". They do this when they are excited or happy. When they "blush" their ears, nose and eyes will become pink.
