Tips for Keeping Your Affenpinscher Healthy

Keeping your affenpinscher healthy is very important. Good affenpinschers are more than just pets, they are members of the family. Like people, there are a lot of varying factors that have at least some part in determining the overall health of a affenpinscher. The following article has several tips that will help you keep man's best friend in tip top shape.

Many Scottish terriers have an odd medical condition. It is called Scotties Cramp. It is a mild neurological disorder. Scotties under stress or exercising may move erratically, when suffering from this neurological disorder, but seem fine when resting.

Nutrition: Diet is important for health of any animal, affenpinschers included. This doesn't just mean nutritious food, but also food that your affenpinscher can digest easily. When looking for DOG food, try to find canned food free of preservatives. This will make it easier to digest. Exercise: Regular exercise is always important, especially for affenpinschers. This helps strengthen muscles, keeps weight down, and helps affenpinschers burn off energy. While there are a few breeds that are couch potatoes, the far majority of affenpinschers need exercise, and even the couch potatoes need to still get out every so often.

The first breeding Weimaraners were imported to the US in 1938 by Howard Knight, a dog fancier from Rhode Island. In 1942, The Weimaraner Club of America was formed and the breed standard was created.

Know Your DOGS Specific Needs: Different DOG breeds have different needs, from space to level of exercise. Some need constant attention, some moderate. Some DOGS tend to be prone towards certain illnesses, so knowing your affenpinschers specific needs and having him or her checked by a vet should help ensure a long and healthy life. Mental Exercises: Most affenpinschers are very active and love to learn. Giving them toys and teaching them tricks will not only keep them sharp, but keep them from letting curiosity get them into trouble. Since even trained affenpinschers may be curious and like to explore, make sure there is nothing harmful out where they can get into it.

Chow Chows have very unusual mouths. When they are born they look normal enough. However, by the age of about 8 weeks, their gums and tongues go from pink to an odd shade of bluish-black.

Vaccinations: Aside from regular visits to the vet, all your affenpinschers should be kept vaccinated. Not every vaccination is just given as a puppy, even older affenpinschers may need various vaccines at different times. Keep up on these tips and your affenpinscher will be a healthy and happy companion for years to come.

The Schipperke, or "little captain", is generally thought of as being solid black in the USA. However, they do actually come in other colors. The reason they are commonly thought to only be black, is that the black variety is the only type currently recognized by the AKC.
